Based on multiple methodological and disciplinary approaches (visual arts, architecture, photography, music, archaeology and philosophy of the art, the literature), the EA 1279, History and Criticism of the arts invests a vast spectre of objects of research with a particular attention on the cultural transfers and on the relations between the arts.
THE EA 1279 dreads the notions "arts" and "criticism" under very wide historic, theoretical and epistemological angles, and joins in the vast current field of the cultural history. Its activity comes in four axes:
1. The criticism and its objects: notions, borders, corpus
2. Objects, sites and architectures: conceptions and patrimonialisation
3. Political history of the arts
4. Interactions: philosophy of the art, the music, the text, the image.
